Growth And Development
Growth with respect to human being means growing much taller and heavier. It is a dynamic, active process involving never ending change. It is influenced by the interaction among a number of factors. This includes development in all aspects- physical, intellectual, emotional, psychological and social maturity. It is a sequential process and the growth rate varies from person to person. Physical growth involves increase in height and weight. When it comes to emotional, mental, and social growth the individual adheres to the changes in the environment and acts accordingly. Growth is an orderly and continuous process, proceeding from general and simple to specific and complex functionality. Infancy is the most important period of development because growth takes place at a very rapid pace only during this stage. Hence, it is known as the critical state of development.
